2 x New Opportunity for a Fixed term contract full time position as an Infrastructure Support Specialist I
Based at HSBC DC – South and West Yorkshire
HSBC Data Centre has a new vacancy for an Infrastructure Support Specialist to carry out technical project delivery in the site readiness, decommission and installation of Servers in the Data Centres. There are two roles available to complement the existing team of six engineers and will be based in Tankersley, South Yorkshire and Wakefield, West Yorkshire.
DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION
Role and Responsibilities:
Self manage, working to bespoke Workflow Management tools.
Request rack space, network and SAN provisioning
Rack and stack servers
Connect network and SAN cables to servers
Power on (after 8 PM)
Check / update Firmware
X86 Hardware upgrades (memory, cpu and disk)
The successful candidate should have the skills required to diagnose \ resolve issues which may arise, endeavouring to hand over working servers to their Operations Team.
The hours will be based on 8 hour shifts from Monday – Sunday between the hours of 09:00 – 24:00 as workload dictates.
The above hours will be subject to the implementation of a shift pattern which is outlined below.
Weekend working is structured on the requirement to be available within the shift pattern, one week in four, with the following Monday and Tuesday as stand down in lieu.
The engineers will be required to travel between sites (Tankersley and Wakefield).
The successful candidate should have experience in a Datacentre support environment and supporting system platforms which include:
Enterprise class Wintel Servers including: HP Proliant (preferred Gen9 and Gen10)
Network and SAN infrastructure: Basic knowledge required
