Role Overview:

Operating within a dynamic Business Finance Team this is a crucial role supporting the wider Finance Team and the Business Managers for a Service Delivery Cost Centre operation. Although a part of the wider Hewlett Packard Enterprise Corporation, being a separate legal entity there are processes, policies and Governance unique to the organisation which the Finance team play a part in sculpting and maintaining.  With no revenue billed directly to end customers we operate on an intercompany cost allocation basis with a fixed legal mark-up to other HP Business Units but are nevertheless goaled on cost recovery driving a strong Business Mentality and so would suit someone with good commercial acumen. You will act as a Finance Business Partner to a number of Business managers at different levels within the organisation and as such form part of their Management teams as a ‘trusted partner’. The role is varied and enriched with full end to end accountability for the Financial Support to one of the two UK Business Units – each approximately a $50m business and will include the mentoring and coaching of other Analysts.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Driving key financial metrics for the organisation

  • Manage the FP&A activities for one of the 2 UK Business Units – Budgeting, Forecasting, Analysis

  • Support the overall UKI annual budget process and monthly forecast

  • Hands on participation in the month end close, managing the overall integrity of the company P&L – some posting of journals

  • Cost Management, Overheads, Platforms and Direct

  • Operate within the Financial Framework between CDS & other HP companies – Labour rates, Activity Based Charges, Fixed Price SLA

  • Act as an experienced mentor & day-to-day task management of Junior Financial Analyst

  • Reporting results to business managers at all levels

  • Drive key financial deliverables within Finance and the Business

  • Engage with key finance contacts in the wider HPE organisation and develop relationships

  • Excellent financial stewardship of the organisation from both a control and governance perspective and cost efficiency perspective

  • Financial thought leadership and financial acumen to meet business goals

  • Contribute to the successful delivery on the annual Finance and Business Projects Plan of Record

  • Ensure accounting processes are fit for purpose for the areas supported and in line with the company (Accounting & Finance Manual)

  • Excellent fundamental accounting knowledge – experience of an accounting role/qualifications (not only ‘Finance’)

  • Highly analytical

  • Proven communication & influencing skills

  • Problem solver and logical

  • Self-motivated and passionate individual

  • Able to build and maintain relationships at all levels

  • Ability to demonstrate strong business interaction and business acumen

  • A passion for Management Accounting




  • Medium-Advanced Excel skills (macros/VBA helpful but not crucial), with significant knowledge of rest of MS office suite

  • Good technical accountant

  • Comfortable with varying presentation formats – both face to face and virtually

  • Ability to translate complex financial information into “layman” terms

  • Excellent and proven team work skills

  • Analytical, problem solving, Customer focus, initiative and independence

  • Commercial/Business Acumen
